Temple Square - This 10-acre block located in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City is one of the most popular tourist spots in Utah. Temple Square features two visitor centers, the Tabernacle, the Assembly Hall, and several monuments and statues. Forty-five-minute free tours of the square begin every 5 to 10 minutes at the 100-foot flagpole in the center of the block. Located: Main Street and South Temple
Utah’s Historic Governor’s Mansion - This elegant 1902 building was once owned by the late Thomas Kearns, a U.S. senator who made millions in the mining industry. The building now houses the current governor, and features a three-story staircase, domed ceiling, and the famous upstairs ballroom. The governor’s mansion is open for public tours Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2-4 p.m. at no cost. No reservations are required. Located: Address: 603 E. South Temple
Cathedral of the Madeleine - Historic gothic-inspired building, with delicate stained-glass windows and paintings that have been preserved and restored. Free tours are given at 1pm Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. Located: 331 E. South Temple
Utah State Capitol - The Utah State Capitol building on its hilly perch can be seen from far away. The main floor houses interesting exhibits, including pioneer exhibits and a race car that once set a land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats. Located: 350 N. State Street
Mormon Tabernacle Choir - As its name implies, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir makes its home in the Tabernacle on Temple Square. Visitors can hear the choir at free performances inside the Tabernacle twice a week. The performance each Thursday from 8:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. is a rehearsal, but is open to the public. On Sunday, the Tabernacle doors open at 8:15 a.m. for the weekly live broadcast of Music and the Spoken Word. The program begins at 9:30 a.m., but the audience must be seated by 9:15 a.m. to avoid interrupting the broadcast. Located: Temple Square, Main Street and South Temple.

The Gateway - Salt Lake City’s only open-air contemporary destination that delivers the ultimate in shopping, dining and entertainment. Enjoy the Olympic Legacy Plaza featuring the “dancing waters” of the Olympic Snowflake Fountain. Clark Planetarium - Clark Planetarium is the perfect place to “See what’s out there.” Explore 10,000 square feet of exhibits and experience incredible visuals in the ATK 3D IMAX® Theatre or Hansen Dome Theatre. Be sure to visit the Planet Fun Clark Planetarium Store for a vast assortment of science toys, books, videos and, of course, telescopes. The Depot - As a state-of-the-art concert venue, the Depot features live music and entertainment, bringing nightlife to The Gateway. Trolly Square - Utah’s premiere destination for an incomparable shopping, dining and entertainment experience! You’ll find a multitude of shops, services and eateries in the converted trolley carbarns and adjoining buildings.
